Baby Safe

The stark poverty in South Africa has created a startling crisis in which women are throwing their newborn babies away. I have started an operation that is countering infanticide by providing a 24 hour, legal, and safe drop off point for women seeking another anonymous option for themselves and their baby. This is called The Baby Safe, its a box in the wall of a church, and when a baby is left inside, it immediately notifies me by calling my cell phone, in addition to other volunteers on call. We are partnered with an adoption agency, where the babies are placed in families. I also do pregnancy counseling with women in crisis through Baby Safe, in addition to facilitating the adoption process for birth parents openly seeking to have their child adopted.
